Interface Concepts: Diablo-Style

Interface Concepts: Diablo-Style
Client: none · 2005

I thought I'd experiment with some game interface concept designs. I picked Diablo II to emulate, and tried to come up with a design that fit within the dark Gothic aesthetic of the game franchise. The panel on the left is my take on the Quest Panel, with each individual quest within the act (Act 1 shown) given a pane of a stained glass window. (Starting in the upper right, and following the panels clockwise, the quests are as follow: Search For Cain (featuring the Tree of Inifus), The Sisters' Burial Grounds, Den of Evil, Tools of the Trade, Sisters to the Slaughter, and the Forgotten Tower. I tried to work in a major element from each quest in a manner that would evoke old religious paintings, like the work of Giotto.

The right panel is a sort of inventory panel. It's pretty basic--mostly I wanted to fiddle with noodly metallic gold decorative flourishes.
