A View of the Sunset
April 2002
One of the Imaginary Children has ventured up to the rooftops to get a view of the sunset.
I originally drew this many months back for a promotion that my friend, Lise, and I were doing to try and promote our comic project, Nowhere, before comicon. I drew some sketches of Imaginary Children, and Lise made up stories for them, and we sold them to people. This is the last of the batch, and I felt like colouring him digitally. But I also decided it would be a good time to experiment with A) a more complex background with inorganic shapes and interesting building structures and B) perhaps a slightly different colouring scheme than the generalised diffuse sunshine that I seem to colour people in. So...A) I painted the City and B) went with a sunset. I'm generally quite happy with the way this picture turned out.
