Scion Ads: Ultimate Games Customization Guide feature
Client: GamePro/IDG Entertainment • 2006

Scion sponsored three special article features over the period of a year, and I created ads pointing to the special features. The third and final one was called the Ultimate Games Customization Guide. The article explored ways to customize your gaming experience, ranging from getting console mods to playing with avatars. I ended up doing three sets of ads before Scion decided on the final set. Initially I had started off with our little vector friend again, for the sake of consistency, but this time Scion wanted something less cartoony. So I came back with Version Two, vector gamer guys with more detail in their faces, but each with a recognisably distinct hairstyle and attitude. While this was received favourably by the sales team, in the end, they decided to focus on the Scion cars and how customizable they are. (The photocollage backgrounds came from Scion's most recent campaign, and I did not work on them, but merely integrated them into the ads, which also ended up matching a custom Scion skin on Games.net. I did, of course, create all the vector art associated with this campaign and animated all the ad comps.

The other Scion campaigns can be found here, for comparison's sake:
