Video Illustrations Client: GamePro/IDG Entertainment • 2006
While at GamePro, I would often create graphics for our video producer. We had a show called Attack of the Factoids, and she would require a graphic that would illustrate a particular fact. I would make them in Flash/Illustrator/Photoshop, as those were the programs available to me, and then I would pass them off to her. The backgrounds on these are often coloured bright green or pink--an easily identifiable colour that she could key out. Here is a small sampling of the animated graphics. On average, these took about twenty minutes each to create all the assets and animate. They are meant to be small flavour graphics for much longer videos.
The first graphic here illustrates a principle of sexual dimorphism in mammalian populations. Apparently in species where there is a large size difference between males and females, the male is more likely to have multiple mating partners vying for his attention.
The second graphic (created for a Call of Duty 2 Attack of the Factoids, if you are curious) illustrated the toothbrush mustache, rendered infamous by Hitler. Less popular than the toothbrush mustache however, is excessive hirsutism in women. Horray for Nair.
The third graphic harkens to those MTV and VH1 style shows that showcase has-been superstars and asks, "Where are they now?" I merely emulated the style for our producer. (Illustrator blend is your friend.)
